Hello! This week we will be focusing on using quotation marks in dialogue in preparation for writing an adventure story.
All students will be checking out a new Book Talk book for third quarter on Tuesday. Book Talk will be Wed., Feb. 12th, at 2:30; all books must be finished by then. (We still need a leader for All of the Above. If you can help, please contact Mrs. Bueno in the library. Thank you!)

Week of Jan. 13-17
Hello! Maybe we'll have a full week of school!
This week we will continue our narrative poetry unit. We'll finish "The Highwayman" and move on to "The Cremation of Sam McGee."
HOMEWORK:
Remember that all students are required to read at least 90 minutes per week outside of English class time and record it on the reading log. Logs are collected and distributed on Tuesdays.

We are looking for a parent volunteer to lead the Book Talk discussion for the book All of the Above on Wednesday, Feb. 12th from 2:00-2:30. If you could help us with this, please contact Ms. Bueno in the Cherokee library at 523-7200 or nbueno@spsmail.org. Thank you so very much!

Reminder--all students should have a self-selected independent reading book that they are reading both at school and at home.
Thurs--clean out all graded papers from the English folder and keep them at home.

Hello! This week we will begin our unit on Charles Dickens and his classic A Christmas Carol. All students will need some kind of a folder with brads by Friday. (It does not have to be new.) Also, please remember that Book Talk is on Wednesday, Dec. 11th, and every student must have finished his/her book by that date.
